Pacific Bridge Media & Consulting production team is led by media professionals with decades of experience in covering and producing international news for global audiences. We take pride in the methods, values and integrity of good journalism.

Toshi Maeda

CEO

A multilingual journalist with over 25 years of experience in the media industry, Maeda worked as a producer and correspondent for Reuters TV in Tokyo after stints as a reporter at The Japan Times, The Associated Press in San Francisco, Newsday in New York, and The Desert Sun in Palm Springs, California.

In 2010, he founded Pacific Bridge Media & Consulting (PBMC) in Tokyo to help both news organizations and corporate clients to produce multimedia storytelling content for an international audience.

Maeda has also taught journalism at Komazawa University’s Faculty of Global Media Studies. Currently, he serves as executive editor for solutions-focused bilingual news platform J-Stories, a PBMC media outlet.

Nicolas Ito

Head of Production

Raised in Japan, France and the U.K. Graduated from Waseda University, and studied journalism in California, U.S.A. Specializes in the production of documentary and corporate communication videos.

Noriko Kiyama

Head of Administration

Born in Kumamoto, Japan. Joined PBMC in 2016 and is responsible for administration, accounting, HR, while also occasionally producing video content. Loves the cultures of Brazil and Korea, and weight training.

Sho Ki

Head of Technology

Born in Beijing, China. Graduated from Keio University. He has an engineering background that extends from software to computer graphics and music. He is in charge of technology and CG production at PBMC.

Executive Director

Former head of Reuters Japan. Served Japan’s leading business daily, the Nihon Keizai Shimbun, as Toronto bureau chief and deputy director of the European editorial bureau, based in London. Also, served as manager of News Development and managing editor at Reuters Japan.

Executive Director

Journalist, former managing editor and executive operating officer of The Japan Times, member of the World Economic Forum’s council on media, lecturer at Tokyo Woman’s Christian University.

Kazunori Kurimoto

Senior Producer

Kazu has worked as a producer, documentary filmmaker and news editor in the U.S., Europe and Asia. Most recently, he oversaw the production of English-language news programs for NHK World from its New York bureau.

Senior Producer

Journalist, TV producer and PR specialist. Previously worked for TBS, TV Asahi New York, Reuters, Brazilian Record TV. He was press officer for international media on the Tokyo 2020 organizing committee.

Atsushi Kanno

After working as a news program director for 13 years, he moved to Canada to learn the basics of video production beyond TV production. “Perseverance” and “Never giving up until the end” are his mottos.

Born in the U.S, and based in New York City for over a decade working as a producer for Japanese TV news. Came to Tokyo in 2019, Randy specializes in content involving geopolitics and socio-economics.

Born in Italy,  a language enthusiast. Master’s Degree in International Culture and Communication at Waseda University. Loves connecting with foreign cultures, coffee, chocolate, and TV series.

A graphic designer from Italy. Spent 10 years as a fashion model and product promoter. Came to Japan to study the language and editing. Loves Japan so much she dreams of living in Japan forever!

Associate Producer

Born in Kanagawa, Japan. Joined PBMC in 2023 and is responsible for project coordination as well as managing photoshoots. Loves spending time at cafes and reading magazines.

Yui Sawada

Associate Producer

After interning at PBMC for a year while in college, she joined a production company that produced TV programs for NHK. Rejoined PBMC in 2022.

Emi Takahata
Emi Takahata
Production Manager

Graduated with honors in journalism from Seneca College in Toronto, Canada. Runs her own Japanese program for Canadian radio station 105.9 FM. Her motto is “stay safe, healthy and positive.”

Production Manager

Graduated from Nihon University College of Art, having studied broadcasting. As a student, runs his radio program at RainbowTown FM in Tokyo. Previously worked as a PR consultant at VECTOR INC.

Born in Paris, France. Graduated in cinema studies at Paris Sorbonne Nouvelle University. More than 10 years of experience in directing, filming and editing video content in Japan from documentary to promotional videos.

Born in Strasbourg, France, and graduated in Communication for Science. His career experiences include tourism development in Japan, sound design, and videography as he does now in PBMC.

Riku Watanabe

Editor/Videographer
Started his career as an editor while in university, working on music videos and corporate advertisements. Moved to Vancouver after graduation to study films, and worked on sets as a cinematographer.

Writer/Translator

Born in the U.K. Studied at Cambridge and Tokyo Universities. Spent 15 years as a freelance journalist in Japan, traveling everywhere from Hokkaido to Okinawa. Now lives in England, working as a translator and writer.

Born in the U.K. A journalist for over 27 years and NGO advisor and coordinator. He has a Masters degree in journalism and mass communications.

A Journalism graduate from the Philippines. Worked in advertising before traveling the world as a cruise ship photographer. Came to Japan in 2019 for graduate school. Dreams of owning a camper van and making documentaries.
